Segundo a CNBC, James Comer, presidente do Comitê de Supervisão e Reforma Governamental da Câmara, iniciou uma investigação sobre as plataformas de mercado de previsão Kalshi e Polymarket, solicitando que ambas as empresas expliquem suas medidas para prevenir o insider trading, incluindo verificação de identidade, aplicação de restrições geográficas e mecanismos de monitoramento de negociações anômalas. Comer afirmou que os registros internos das plataformas relevantes são evidências fundamentais para identificar negociadores indevidos e determinar se as plataformas estão cumprindo suas obrigações legais.
Anteriormente, foi relatado que a Polymarket teve negociações suspeitas relacionadas a eventos dos EUA envolvendo o Irã e a Venezuela; a Kalshi também suspendeu as contas de três candidatos ao congresso que estavam apostando nos resultados de suas próprias eleições na plataforma. Comer solicitou que ambas as empresas enviem os documentos relevantes até 5 de junho.
