Mainnet

By: WEEX|2024/10/26 09:13:42

A mainnet is the fully operational version of a blockchain network where actual transactions and applications occur. When a blockchain project launches its mainnet, it means the network is live, and users can perform real transactions using the project's native tokens. Mainnets are the opposite of testnets, which are used for development and testing purposes. For example, Ethereum's mainnet is the network where real Ether (ETH) transactions occur, whereas the Goerli testnet is used by developers to test smart contracts without risking real assets. The transition from a testnet to a mainnet is a major milestone for any blockchain project.
