In the first half of 2026, listed Bitcoin mining companies reduced their realized computing power by 75 EH/s. Based on a purchase price of $20 per TH/s, this corresponds to an investment of approximately $1.5 billion in mining equipment. The main reason for the reduction in computing power is that some electricity resources have been reallocated to AI infrastructure. Statistics from 12 companies show that the total impairment of assets and write-downs classified as assets held for sale amounted to approximately $1.1 billion during the same period, with IREN and Core Scientific accounting for nearly 89%. IREN confirmed approximately $695 million in related impairments and write-downs from January to June 2026.
