Chainlink CCIP 2.0 Launched, Supporting Institutional Cross-Chain Validator Operations
Chainlink CCIP 2.0 is now live and open to all institutions and digital asset issuers. The new version allows users to run their own Cross-Chain Validators (CCVs) or choose third-party operated CCVs, adding an independent verification layer where cross-chain transactions must be executed after signatures from both parties. CCIP 2.0 integrates Chainlink's Automation Compliance Engine (ACE), which can enforce rules such as KYC, AML, sanctions screening, and transaction limits for cross-chain transactions. Issuers can customize block confirmation thresholds to achieve faster-than-finality transfers. CCIP 2.0 will initially support the Ethereum Fast Confirmation Rules (FCR) upon its launch. Protocols like Aave, Maple, and Re have adopted CCIP 2.0 to enable faster-than-finality transfers of native cross-chain tokens, and Lombard has also integrated custom CCV verification logic. The total value of cross-chain tokens currently on CCIP exceeds $84 billion, with over $15 billion in tokens migrated to CCIP in the past four months, including WBTC and cbBTC. Chainlink released the CCIP v2.0.0 contract on GitHub on June 18, introducing features such as CCV, new Executors, and Pools v2. By the end of August, CCIP 2.0 has been gradually deployed on Ethereum by routing, coexisting with version 1.6.
