In Yakutsk, a crypto farm was found in the garage of a 41-year-old local resident, connected to the power grid bypassing the meter. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' economic security department discovered 17 mining devices and a laptop. According to the police, the farm illegally consumed electricity from April to July, causing damage to the energy supply company amounting to 1.5 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated against the owner under part 1 of article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust. Yakutia is not among the regions of Russia where cryptocurrency mining is banned, although restrictions are in place in other regions such as Dagestan and Chechnya. Previously, a 68-year-old man was convicted in the Moscow region for secretly connecting a mining farm to the power grid, with damages in that case amounting to 4.1 million rubles.
