Crypto Scam: A Fake Workshop Allegedly Operated During an International Event

By: journalducoin.com|10/13/2026 10:45:00

A free workshop to learn how to avoid being scammed. The invitation seemed like a good security measure. However, a report filed by a participant with the Singapore police describes a possible TOKEN2049 scam. According to him, the organizers of "Don't Get Played" allegedly pressured their guests to install remote control software.

The scenario is reminiscent of the fake companies set up by North Korean hackers from Lazarus to trap developers. But here, the bait had the face of a cybersecurity trainer, with meetings in a luxury hotel.
Key points of this article:

  • A cybersecurity workshop in Singapore sparked a scandal by pushing participants to install remote control software.
  • A police report revealed that this event took place on the sidelines of the TOKEN2049 expo, exploiting a fertile ground for crypto scams.

TOKEN2049 Scam: What the Report Filed in Singapore Says

It all starts from a single page. On October 12, the SolanaFloor account published page 2 of 6 of a report from the Singapore police. Its barcode even bears the date of October 11, 2026. The complainant targets a group operating under three names: "Apex Accelerator", "Stone Venture", and "Don't Get Played".

The event took place on Sunday, October 11, from 6 PM to 10 PM at the Singapore EDITION. According to the complainant, the organizers allegedly "pressured the participants". The goal: to have them install software that would give remote control of their computers. The document also mentions a website and a Telegram group that can only be accessed through this site. He did not install anything. He reports no financial loss.

The Trojan Horse of the Fake Crypto Workshop

The timing of this TOKEN2049 scam is anything but innocent. TOKEN2049 Singapore took place on October 7 and 8, 2026. Hundreds of parallel events revolve around the expo throughout the week. To set up a crypto scam, it’s hard to imagine a better breeding ground. Indeed, the city is bustling with founders and traders, their wallets on a laptop.

Imagine a friendly host offering to "secure" your machine live with a homemade tool. Remote control software then allows a stranger to see your screen and open your files. Things escalate quickly. Many store their recovery phrase (the 12 or 24 words that open a wallet) in a simple text file. This file is enough to drain a wallet in minutes, with no recourse.

The Singapore police know the recipe. In a notice published on July 2, 2026, they reported at least 30 complaints since May. The cause: fake technical support imitating Microsoft and Crypto.com, with over one million Singapore dollars vanished. Victims ended up transferring their cryptos. And those transfers cannot be recovered.

TOKEN2049 Scam: The Police Silent, The Organizers Too

A police report remains the version of a complainant. As of October 13, the Singapore Police Force has made no public communication on this matter. Furthermore, no charges appear in the published materials. No aggrieved victims have come forward. "Apex Accelerator" and "Stone Venture" have not publicly responded.

The name of the software remains unknown. If you followed the installation instructions that night, treat this machine as compromised without waiting for further developments. First, transfer your funds to a new address from another device. Then, uninstall the tool and change your passwords before reinstalling the system. Finally, do not download a second program from the same site "to check".

Scammers in the sector change disguises with the seasons. After fake recruiters and fake video calls, here comes the fake cybersecurity trainer. He joins the long list of the worst scams in the crypto world. For now, this alleged TOKEN2049 scam is contained in a single page of report. The Singapore police registered it on October 11, 2026.
