Deutsche Bank has raised its earnings expectations for the S&P 500 index, predicting that earnings per share (EPS) will reach $358 in 2026, up from the previous estimate of $342. The EPS forecast for 2027 has been increased from $390 to $420. This adjustment is primarily based on strong corporate earnings reports for the second quarter, with 87% of S&P 500 constituent companies exceeding market expectations, and a projected year-on-year profit growth of 33% for the second quarter. Deutsche Bank noted that earnings growth is spreading from large tech companies to a broader range of industries, with corporate profit margins reaching historic highs and sales growth remaining robust, indicating that the profitability of U.S. companies remains resilient.
