Ethereum Foundation Releases Post-Quantum PeerDAS and Variable Size Blobs EIP Draft
Ethereum Foundation researcher frisitano has released the draft for "Post-Quantum PeerDAS and Variable Size Blobs" EIP. This draft replaces the KZG commitments and proofs in PeerDAS with Keccak-256 Merkle commitments and authentication paths for each Blob, combined with LeanDA STARK proofs, to eliminate trusted setups and enhance quantum resistance. The draft also introduces variable size Blobs, with byte lengths as powers of 2 ranging from 2048 to 524288, which can be evenly divided by 128, retaining 128 data units while the size varies with the Blob. Execution layer transactions will carry (merkle_root, byte_length) instead of versioned hash, and will update the network layer and Gas billing methods.
