Ethereum Security Fund Transitions to RFP Format for Second Round
The Ethereum Security Support Fund will expand its support structure to a Request for Proposal (RFP) format targeting large ecosystem projects starting from the second round of funding. The second funding round, scheduled for the second half of 2026, will involve presenting specific security challenges and receiving project proposals, although the exact targets and funding amounts have not yet been disclosed. The first round concluded on May 23, 2026, with 134 projects selected for support based on a matching pool of 500 ETH. The amount raised by the community and sponsors exceeded $600,000. The scope of support from TheDAO Security Fund is not limited to individual project audits but also includes the security of the Ethereum core protocol and Layer 2 solutions. The fund was established based on assets recovered after the 2016 TheDAO hack, with over 75,000 ETH converted to the fund in January 2026. The allocation of funds involves seven curators and holders of the ETHSecurity Badge, and the RFP process entails the fund first presenting security challenges to be addressed before receiving project proposals to determine the support targets. The scale of support for Vyper and Auditware in the second round will be confirmed in the next announcement.
