The Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) is a mandatory evaluation for drivers circulating in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) and the province of Buenos Aires during August 2026.

During the inspection, both the mechanical condition of the vehicle and gas emissions are checked. Technicians observe the bodywork, bumpers, lights, tires, brakes, and other components that must meet the safety conditions established in current regulations.

Often, rejections occur due to simple faults or modifications that could be detected before making an appointment.

What is checked in the VTV

The VTV inspection is a control that seeks to verify that the vehicle meets the minimum safety conditions for circulation.

One of the first aspects evaluated is the general condition of the bodywork. It is checked that the structure does not present significant damage that could compromise the vehicle's safety and that any repairs made have not affected its strength.

It is also verified that there are no loose parts, at risk of detachment or with sharp edges that could pose a danger to occupants or third parties.

The fenders must be complete, properly secured, and without significant breaks. Additionally, they cannot protrude from the transport line or present damaged parts that could come off while the car is in motion.

Another point is the bumpers. Inspectors verify that they retain the location intended by the manufacturer, that they are firmly placed, and that they do not have deformations, cracks, or missing parts.

In modified vehicles, it is checked that the height from the ground remains within permitted parameters and that the modifications do not alter the original safety conditions.

The VTV pays attention to accessories installed on the exterior of the vehicle. Metal defenses, front hooks, winches, supports, non-homologated steps, or any element that protrudes from the bodywork without authorization can be grounds for rejection.

In addition to the exterior structure, the braking system is inspected to check its efficiency and the correct balance between the wheels, and the operation of the steering and suspension is verified.

Tires are part of the mandatory checks. It is checked that they have the minimum tread depth required by law, that they do not have cuts, deformations, blisters, or excessive wear.

The lighting system is evaluated: low, high, position, brake, turn, reverse lights, and hazard lights are checked, in addition to verifying that the alignment and intensity of the headlights are correct to ensure good visibility without dazzling other drivers.

During the inspection, the windshield wipers and the condition of the windshield are checked, which should not have breaks or cracks that affect the field of vision. This is complemented by checking the rearview mirrors, horns, front headrests, and seat belts, which must be in good condition.

Another mandatory point is the measurement of pollutant emissions and the noise level of the vehicle. The goal is to verify that the engine meets the established environmental limits.

Inspectors check that the vehicle does not present fluid leaks, such as oil, fuel, or brake fluid.
