Today’s Digest

  • Major indexes were mixed on October 23, with the Dow weaker; Brent rose to about $116.7, a near six-month high, and energy led.
  • Gold fell below $4,000, while Bitcoin pulled back toward $80,000 as traders debated whether the correction was nearing its end.
  • Cybersecurity stocks advanced last week, with CrowdStrike up nearly 12% and BlackBerry up more than 10%.
  • Today’s focus: Verizon before the open, and Cadence, Celestica and Amkor after the close.

1 Crypto Highlights

1) Bitcoin Near $80,000; Traders Focus on Cycle Scenarios and Support

Bitcoin traded around $79,000–$80,000, while Ethereum also weakened. Some market analysis suggests the pullback may be nearing exhaustion based on prior cycle retracements. Another scenario focuses on a possible test of the $75,000 fair-value gap, followed by levels near $100,000, $126,000, $160,000 and $190,000. These are scenario estimates, not confirmed forecasts; near-term attention remains on support and capital flows.

4) PYTH Leads Major Tokens; Buyback Mechanism Offers Support

3) Gold Breaks Below $4,000 as Silver Also Weakens

Gold briefly fell below $4,000, down more than 3% for the week; silver slipped below about $54. Elevated long-bond yields, a stronger dollar and oil-driven inflation and rate concerns reduced precious metals’ safe-haven appeal. Watch how changing rate expectations affect real yields.
