Google DeepMind has launched AlphaGenome Atlas, an AI-driven searchable database designed to predict the potential impacts of 9 billion single-base DNA variations in the human genome. The database, which reaches a scale of 1PB, is over 30 times larger than the AlphaFold database and integrates the "AlphaGenome Variant Impact Score" (AVI), allowing for the ranking of gene mutations by severity and revealing their pathogenic mechanisms, such as disrupting gene switches or RNA splicing instructions, helping researchers directly link genetic variations to specific molecular mechanisms.
