Increase in Ripple AI Payments Reaching 3.99 Million Transactions
Artificial intelligence (AI) agents are increasingly conducting payments using Ripple (XRP) and Ripple Dollar (RLUSD) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Recently, the number of agent transactions reached 3,992,146, nearing the 4 million mark. T54 reported that related transactions exceeded 3.1 million, with approximately 890,000 additional transactions following that. However, this figure should not be considered a confirmed cumulative total. The xrpl.fi dashboard explained that recent XRPL x402 payments are being settled at about 9,162 transactions per hour, but the cumulative total presented by the operators cannot be independently audited. Ripple announced the release of the XRPL AI Starter Kit on June 9, providing tools and documentation for developers to create XRPL-based agent payment applications. The x402 connects the HTTP 402 Payment Required flow to on-chain payments, allowing AI agents to use XRP and RLUSD to pay for API, computing, and other digital service costs. Mastercard announced Agent Pay for Machines in June, supporting machine-led payments and stablecoin settlements. The number of transactions and payments cannot be viewed as the same unit, and what is confirmed on the public ledger is the increase in x402-based payment activities.
