Jensen Huang Posts First X Tweet, Over 20 Institutions Support Open Weight AI Models
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang posted his first personal tweet on X, sharing an open letter titled "Open Weights and U.S. AI Leadership" co-signed by NVIDIA and over 20 other tech companies and institutions. The letter argues that open weight models can expand access to the AI economy, enhance market competition, and give users more control. Signatories include Meta, Microsoft, Andreessen Horowitz, Hugging Face, IBM, Mistral AI, Palantir, Perplexity, Mozilla, Y Combinator, and others. The letter states that while open weight models carry risks, development should not be restricted through bans but rather advanced through openness to enhance AI safety and cybersecurity capabilities. Huang emphasized that the world needs both cutting-edge closed-source models and cutting-edge open models.
