Lightning Development Kit Releases Security Update to Fix Fund Theft Vulnerability
The Lightning Development Kit (LDK) has released a security update to fix a vulnerability that could allow malicious nodes to steal funds. The most severe vulnerability involves Lightning channel reconnections, where a malicious node could falsely claim to have not received a confirmed channel update. The vulnerable LDK software could sign conflicting commitment transactions without properly recording the transactions, allowing attackers to regain Bitcoin after forwarding payments. Versions LDK 0.2.7 and 0.1.13 have fixed this vulnerability. As of now, no confirmed losses due to these vulnerabilities have been reported.
