Today’s Digest

  • Major equity indexes closed higher on October 5 ET, and the Nasdaq set another high at 27,477.
  • The 10-year and 30-year yields rose intraday to about 5.34% and 5.70%, near levels last seen in 2002.
  • Bitcoin traded near $86,000; 旺柴 rose more than 12% in 24 hours, while NIGHT and storage tokens also strengthened.
  • SpaceX (SPCX) rose more than 7.5% to a stage high; EWZ and PBR jumped on election and resource narratives.
  • October 6 ET focus is Amazon’s fall Prime event and early sales signals.

1 Crypto Highlights

1)Bitcoin Holds Above $86,000; Ethereum Near $2,730

Bitcoin traded near $86,700 and held above its moving average. Ethereum traded near $2,730 and XRP near $1.52. September payrolls rose only about 29,000, below forecasts, prompting markets to cut this month’s rate-hike odds and lift risk appetite. Still, long-end yields remain at multi-year highs and Brent is close to $100, limiting further upside in majors. Focus is the $87,000–$90,000 resistance zone and whether spot ETFs keep seeing inflows.

2)WEEX Lists Mandarin Meme 旺柴, Up More Than 12% in 24 Hours

旺柴 is a BNB Chain meme built around the classic WeChat Shiba sticker, combining the auspicious wordplay of “旺柴” and “旺财” with a Mandarin internet-culture narrative. WEEX opened 旺柴/USDT spot trading, and the token rose more than 12% in 24 hours. Community sentiment and listing liquidity lifted volume, but meme pricing still depends on narrative persistence. Watch for a give-back after the spike.

Spot: 旺柴

3)Midnight (NIGHT) Surges as Privacy-Upgrade Expectations Rise

Midnight (NIGHT) rose more than 12% over 24 hours and traded near $0.052, with a sharp weekly gain. The driver is rising expectation around the v8 network upgrade, with markets watching expanded support for privacy contracts and privacy tokens. Node versions are entering a key pre-upgrade stage. Price has repaired sharply from the July low, but the after-effect of a bridge security incident remains, so near-term volatility may stay elevated.

4)Storage Sector Rises; FIL, SC, WAL and FLUX Lead

Decentralized storage strengthened. Filecoin (FIL) rose about 11% over 24 hours, while Siacoin (SC), Walrus (WAL) and Flux (FLUX) also ranked among the leaders. AI training and inference are increasing demand for hot and cold data storage, while higher FIL turnover helped repair sector valuations. If majors give back gains, high-beta storage tokens may retrace faster.

Spot: FIL / SC / WAL / FLUX
Futures: FIL / WAL / FLUX

2 Stock Highlights

1)Tech Pushes Nasdaq to Another High as Long-End Yields Near 2002 Levels

On October 5 ET, major equity indexes closed higher. The Nasdaq rose about 1.05% to 27,477, a new record, and the S&P 500 gained about 0.66%. NVIDIA and other mega-cap tech names led as September payrolls rose only about 29,000, far below forecasts, lowering this month’s rate-hike odds. Still, the 10-year and 30-year yields rose intraday to about 5.34% and 5.70%. September ISM Services PMI fell to 54.9, while the services prices index rose to 74.0. Sticky inflation and “higher for longer” concerns remain. The next checkpoint is how later inflation prints reprice QQQ and SPY.

Spot: QQQ / NVDA / SPY
Futures: QQQ / NVDA / SPY

2)SpaceX (SPCX) Rises More Than 7.5% to a Stage High

SpaceX (SPCX) rose more than 7.5% to its highest level since the August low. A major bank reiterated an Overweight rating and a $300 target, arguing that growth-adjusted valuation still trades at a discount to mega-cap AI peers. Potential catalysts include Starship test flights, third-quarter results, Grok version releases and more compute-cloud deals. A successful Starship catch is viewed as a key post-listing catalyst.

Spot: SPCX
Futures: SPCX

3)Resource-Market Assets Jump; PBR Rides Election and Field-Discovery Narratives

A resource-market equity index posted one of its largest single-day gains in years, with its currency strengthening as well. A pro-business candidate unexpectedly led the first round of the presidential election, with a runoff due in about three weeks, prompting investors to reprice policy and fiscal expectations. PBR was also lifted by a potential multi-billion-barrel ultra-deepwater discovery. EWZ and PBR became cross-market focal points.
