NVIDIA's Groq Racks Enter Full Production for Deployment in Nebius Data Centers
NVIDIA has announced that the Groq 3 LPX racks have entered full production and will be deployed in the data centers of cloud service provider Nebius, expected to go live later this year. This move marks the commercialization of technology achieved after NVIDIA's approximately $20 billion technology licensing deal with Groq. Several key Groq employees have joined NVIDIA, with founder Jonathan Ross serving as Chief Software Architect. NVIDIA is accelerating the production of Groq chips, emphasizing the importance of low-latency inference. The Groq 3 LPX serves as a reasoning accelerator for the Vera Rubin platform, integrating 500 megabytes of high-speed SRAM to reduce memory bottlenecks. Each LPX rack can integrate 256 Groq 3 chips, with benchmark tests showing the capability to process 3,400 tokens per second, with the chips manufactured by Samsung. Harris stated that low-latency chips are not intended to replace GPUs but to use the appropriate processors for different workloads, allowing cloud service providers to offer higher-priced packages for latency-sensitive users. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang plans to allocate about a quarter of the data center space to Groq chips, with the remainder utilizing the Vera Rubin system, anticipating that by 2027, cumulative sales of Blackwell and Vera Rubin will reach $1 trillion.
