Nvidia's Share of AI Chips in China's Data Center Drops to 34%
In the first half of 2026, Nvidia's share of the AI chip market in China's data centers dropped to 34%. From January to June this year, Nvidia's AI accelerator shipments in the Chinese market totaled 678,000 units, a year-on-year decline of 44%. The change in market share is attributed to U.S. export controls limiting product supply and local competitors in China expanding their shares. Among the 11 Chinese chip manufacturers tracked by IDC, 9 reported year-on-year shipment growth. Huawei's AI accelerator shipments reached 572,000 units in the first half of the year, accounting for 28% of the overall market. Alibaba's T-head held a market share of 7%, Cambricon had 5%, Baidu's Kunlun chip had 4%, and Haiguang Information had 3%. Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang criticized the U.S. export restrictions, stating that the policy forced Nvidia to cede the $50 billion AI chip market in China to Huawei. IDC did not specify which products make up the 34% share, nor did it clarify whether it includes chips like the B200 and B300.
