Onion Prices in Ukraine Increased by 21% in a Week

Since the beginning of this week, onion prices in Ukraine have resumed their upward trend. Farmers are raising their selling prices to 13-20 UAH/kg, which is 21% higher than at the end of last week, due to high demand from wholesalers and retailers amid limited supply of quality products. The main factors driving the price increase are the surge in demand from wholesale companies and a shortage of quality raw materials, as farmers are holding onions in storage, anticipating price increases in winter. Today, the price of onions is 32% higher than in September of last year. Key market players believe that the current price hike is temporary, as the harvest is ongoing, and supply will remain high until mid-October. Among the leading onion producers in Ukraine are the companies "Kishchentsy" and the PAEC Group.
