OpenAI CEO Hints at Collaboration with Other AI Companies to Address Safety Risks
In an interview with Fortune, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted that OpenAI and other leading AI companies may announce collaborations to slow down AI development and jointly address safety risks. Altman stated that there may be future safety plans developed in conjunction with Anthropic's Dario Amodei, SpaceX's Elon Musk, and Google's Demis Hassabis, although he did not disclose specific discussion details. Previously, Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned, accusing the two companies of rapidly advancing self-evolving superintelligence, while Anthropic's alignment director indicated that the risk of AI leading to human extinction in the next decade exceeds 10%. Altman believes that a 10% catastrophic risk is unacceptable and emphasized that the most advanced models must achieve more progress in monitorability and alignment before further advancement.
