Perplexity Files Exposed in Search Engines, Claude Links Removed

Anthropic's Claude shared links have been removed from search results, but as of the 27th, Perplexity user files were still visible in search engines. Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo have deleted indexed pages containing Claude user personal information, but some links remain accessible. The shared links from Perplexity are structured to be accessible via search engines, and there was insufficient guidance to users that the links could be made public. The search results from Perplexity lead to pages that open on actual domains, which are different from separate domains where users publish content. The exposure of Claude was first confirmed on Reddit on the 25th, with claims that sensitive information such as credentials and resumes were included. Perplexity has recently been valued at $20 billion, with monthly users reaching tens of millions. This incident is attributed to a design flaw, as public links were collected by search engines. Users should consider AI shared links as public postings rather than private transmissions, and there is a need for the industry to clearly inform about the possibility of indexing at the link generation stage.
