- Porsche has ended its Web3 project and PIONΞERS CIRCLE nearly four years after launching its 911 NFT initiative.
- Existing PORSCHΞ 911 NFTs will remain with their holders and continue to exist on the blockchain despite the project ending.
- The PIONΞERS Discord will become a read only archive, while Porsche's @eth_porsche X account will no longer receive active updates.
- Porsche did not provide a specific reason for ending the project, which grew from an NFT experiment into a community spanning digital and physical experiences.
Porsche said the project had started as an attempt to connect the automaker's brand with the digital world before developing into a community built around experimentation, culture and online and offline experiences.
Today, we are announcing the conclusion of the Porsche Web3 project and PIONΞERS CIRCLE.

The German automaker did not give a specific reason for closing the project. Existing PORSCHΞ 911 NFTs will remain with their holders and continue to exist on the blockchain despite Porsche winding down the initiative around them.
PIONΞERS CIRCLE's Discord server will be turned into a read only archive, preserving previous discussions and community content. Porsche's @eth_porsche account on X will no longer be actively updated.
"What began as an exploration of new ways to connect the Porsche spirit with the digital world evolved into much more than a technology initiative," the team said.
Porsche credited community members for contributing feedback and ideas during the project, which included digital interactions, events and experiences at racetracks.
Porsche Web3 project grew around its 911 NFT collection
Porsche's Web3 effort centered on a collection of digital versions of its 911 sports car, with the company initially planning to make 7,500 NFTs available.
The project was unveiled at Art Basel in Miami in December 2022 before the mint opened in January 2023. Buyers could choose between Performance, Heritage and Lifestyle design paths that influenced how their digital 911 developed.
Each NFT initially cost 0.911 ETH. Holders were meant to play a role in shaping their digital artwork while receiving access to experiences tied to Porsche and the PIONΞERS CIRCLE community.
Porsche described the project at the time as a long term commitment to Web3. Its plans went beyond selling digital collectibles, with holders taking part in events, discussions and the development of their individual NFT designs.
The first mint, however, faced difficulties shortly after launch.
As crypto.news previously reported, Porsche decided to cut the planned supply and stop minting early in January 2023 after feedback from holders and criticism over the launch.
Around 18% of the planned 7,500 NFTs had been minted when the decision was announced. The collection's floor price had fallen below its 0.911 ETH mint price during the initial rollout.
"Our holders have spoken. We're going to cut our supply and stop the mint to move forward with creating the best experience for an exclusive community," the Porsche Web3 team said at the time.
Porsche later acknowledged that the mint had a difficult start. The company continued developing the project after cutting the supply, focusing on holders who remained in the PIONΞERS CIRCLE.
PIONΞERS CIRCLE moved beyond digital collectibles
Community experiences became a bigger part of the project as Porsche continued its Web3 experiment.
NFT holders were given opportunities to attend physical events alongside the digital features attached to the collection. Porsche hosted experiences including gatherings connected to its cars and motorsport activities, while its Discord server became the main online space for holders.
Porsche described PIONΞERS CIRCLE as a group in which collectors could communicate with the company and help shape future Web3 experiences.
Some members later became community ambassadors, collecting ideas from holders and providing feedback to the Porsche project team. The initiative linked ownership of the NFTs with physical experiences rather than limiting the collection to blockchain based artwork.
Porsche's shutdown announcement acknowledged those activities, referring to interactions that stretched from Discord conversations to events and experiences on racetracks.
The automaker said community feedback, creative work and shared experiences had helped shape the project during its run.
"To everyone who joined us from around the world, contributed ideas, created with us, or simply followed the journey: THANK YOU," the team said.
Porsche NFTs will stay onchain after the project ends
Closing the Web3 project will not remove the PORSCHΞ 911 collection from the blockchain.
Porsche confirmed that the NFTs will remain in their respective holders' wallets. The company did not announce a redemption, burn or migration process for the collection.
The distinction means the digital assets themselves will continue to exist even as the official infrastructure built around the community is wound down.
Discord will remain available as an archive rather than disappearing entirely. Members will be able to access the community's previous content, although the server will no longer operate in its existing form.
Active communication through @eth_porsche will end as well. Porsche directed users seeking further details to its Discord community in the shutdown announcement.
The decision arrives while NFT trading activity continues to move considerably from week to week.
Global NFT sales reached $55.51 million during the seven days ending Sept. 26, climbing 57.17% from the previous period. Ethereum accounted for $30.33 million of those sales, up 113.52%, while CryptoPunks led individual collections with $8.24 million.
A week earlier, the market had moved in the opposite direction. NFT sales fell 15.28% to $37.54 million over the seven day period covered in the Sept. 19 data, even as the number of buyer and seller addresses more than doubled.
Ethereum remained the largest network by NFT sales during that period with $15.32 million, while Bitcoin based NFT sales dropped 53.99% to $4.33 million.
The fluctuations followed another period of heavy movement in August, when weekly NFT volume briefly reached $95.48 million. A single $55.03 million transaction involving the hybrid NFT project Pandora accounted for most of the gain.
Porsche's 911 collection dates to an earlier phase of the NFT market, when several global consumer brands were experimenting with blockchain based collectibles and Web3 communities.
Porsche had framed its own entry as more than a one time NFT sale. The company built the collection around customizable artwork and access to a holder community, while allowing owners to influence the appearance of their digital 911 through different design stages.
Physical experiences later became part of the project, including Porsche events attended by NFT holders and community ambassadors.
With the project now being closed, Porsche said it would retain the history of those interactions through the archived Discord server. The company thanked participants who had contributed ideas, created material and attended experiences during the project's run. "As this journey draws to a close, Porsche continues to evolve, adapting to new opportunities and shaping the future in its own way," the team said.
