President of the Polish Olympic Committee Arrested in Zondacrypto Case, Faces Charges
The President of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław P., has been arrested in connection with an investigation into zondacrypto. He faces charges under Article 230 of the Penal Code regarding passive bribery and Article 302 concerning favoritism towards creditors. A key element in the case was a watch valued at 40,000 euros, but other unclear favors have also emerged. The connections between Kral and Piesiewicz seemed to tighten at a time when zondacrypto was facing issues with UOKiK, which was analyzing the platform's activities. The President of the PKOI allegedly suggested to Kral assistance with legal problems, which both denied, despite journalistic investigations undermining these assurances. The Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007G-001 watch, worth approximately 172,000 PLN, was reportedly handed over to Piesiewicz by Kral in Monaco. Piesiewicz admitted to receiving the watch but claims he purchased it with Kral's help, and its value was to be repaid in cash. The only document confirming the purchase is an invoice addressed to Kral. Piesiewicz's arrest is likely a result of Kral's cooperation with the prosecution. Additionally, zondacrypto was said to have provided Piesiewicz with attractions and gifts worth around 200,000 PLN. After his arrest, Piesiewicz was transported to the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, where he answered journalists' questions, stating that he feels like a victim of the situation.
