Proposal for Re-examination of Listed Coins on Digital Asset Exchanges
A bill has been proposed that requires all digital assets supported by virtual asset exchanges to undergo re-examination within one year after the law takes effect. Digital assets that pose significant risks to user protection or market order will be prioritized for examination within six months of the law's implementation. On October 29, Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Tae-ho introduced the 'Act on Digital Asset Markets and Digital Asset Industries' as the main proponent. This bill establishes a new framework for digital asset trading support and considers digital assets currently supported for trading as having been approved under the law, but mandates that trading support providers conduct a review of continued support within one year from the law's effective date. Additionally, if the review results indicate that the requirements for continued trading support are not met, users must be given the opportunity to dispose of the digital asset in question. Trading support providers are required to establish a trading support review committee to assess technical stability, the appropriateness of issuance and distribution structures, and must make the review criteria and procedures public. If the bill is passed, existing trading items on exchanges will be re-examined according to the new law's standards within a maximum of one year.
