River Financial: 49.6 Million Adults in the U.S. Own Bitcoin
The number of Bitcoin holders among U.S. adults has surpassed that of gold holders. According to a report by River Financial, 49.6 million U.S. adults own Bitcoin, which is about 21 million more than the 28.8 million gold holders. The Bitcoin ownership rate is 18.6%, exceeding the gold ownership rate of 10.8%. River Financial pointed to accessibility and cultural factors as reasons for the increase in Bitcoin holders. The introduction of Bitcoin spot ETFs and growing interest from institutional investors have also contributed to the rise in ownership rates. The Bitcoin ownership rate, which was 14.3% earlier this year, has increased to 18.6% in just six months. The U.S. holds 42% of the global Bitcoin market, with publicly listed companies owning 1.24 million Bitcoins. The U.S. government holds 328,372 Bitcoins, and 37.5% of Bitcoin mining hash rate is operated in the U.S. This report shows that investment preferences in the U.S. are rapidly shifting from gold to Bitcoin.
