Samsung Electronics Unveils Galaxy Z8 Series
Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new 'Galaxy Z8 Series', aiming to expand its foldable lineup and enhance artificial intelligence (AI) experiences. During a press conference held right after the 'Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026' event in London on the 22nd, CEO Lee Tae-moon revealed the next-generation foldable strategy. Samsung plans to broaden options through a foldable lineup tailored to individual customer experiences. The Galaxy Z8 Series incorporates technology designed to create the thinnest and lightest foldable devices ever. The 'Flex Titanium' technology combines the strength and lightweight properties of titanium with precision processing techniques to withstand repeated folding. CEO Lee explained that the next competitive edge for foldables will come from AI, beyond just hardware, and set a goal to provide Galaxy AI to 800 million users by the end of this year. AI is evolving into agentic AI that performs necessary tasks on behalf of users, going beyond merely answering questions. Emphasis was also placed on privacy and transparency, with principles in place to keep sensitive personal data on the device while allowing users to verify AI operations. Samsung is also expanding its AI health experiences, with the new Galaxy Watch analyzing sleep, recovery, and activity data, while Samsung Health has broadened its management scope. CEO Lee stated, "Foldables have entered a mature phase both technologically and in the market."
