Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing concerns over Trump's plans for a large-scale strike against Iran. Trump is considering attacking Iranian energy targets in the coming days in response to Iran's missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan and its interference with shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, but has not yet issued a final order. The Saudi side has requested a clear action plan and urged Trump to de-escalate the situation to avoid launching an attack. Saudi Arabia is an important ally of the U.S. in the region, and despite tensions over the past five months, it has influenced Trump's Iran policy at critical moments. Other regional powers such as Qatar, the UAE, Turkey, and Pakistan are also applying pressure to call for de-escalation.
