Sber Tests Cryptocurrency Operations in Its App
Sber has begun testing a service for buying, selling, depositing, and withdrawing cryptocurrencies in the SberBank Online mobile application. At this stage, operations with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), the stablecoin USDT, and other popular crypto assets are available. Starting December 1, Sber plans to provide all clients with the ability to conduct cryptocurrency operations, which will also be available in the SberInvestments and SberBusiness ecosystems. The final list of cryptocurrencies permitted for trading will be determined by the regulations of the Bank of Russia, and the launch timelines depend on the enactment of the relevant regulatory acts. The Bank of Russia began issuing licenses on October 6 to companies that can conduct cryptocurrency operations. Five digital depositories, including Sber and VTB, as well as four crypto exchanges, are listed in the registers. The cloud infrastructure belongs to the company Sistema-crypto, which does not disclose its beneficiaries.
