Solana Introduces Quantum-resistant Proposal Quantumglow

Anza, focusing on the Solana ecosystem, has announced a new proposal called Quantumglow, aimed at preparing for future cryptographic changes while maintaining the network's high transaction performance. Quantumglow is described as a quantum-resistant adaptation of Solana's Alpenglow architecture. This proposal aims to support post-quantum signature schemes without compromising transaction speed and the network's consensus time. Developers indicate that this approach serves as a preparation against security risks posed by quantum computing technologies, which are expected to become more powerful in the future. Anza is among the technology teams conducting infrastructure and core development work for Solana. The Quantumglow proposal is based on the potential future targeting of ECDSA and Ed25519-based keys. If this change is implemented, validators, developers, and institutional participants will need to adapt to the new validation process. Particularly, the operation of the new signature validation model by validators is seen as one of the critical aspects of the transition process. The proposal aims to reduce the risks the network may be exposed to. The search for quantum-resistant infrastructure is considered to gain importance from an institutional perspective. A deployment date for Quantumglow has not yet been announced, and the work is progressing in the research phase.
