Trump Says He Will Use Veto Power If Democrats Control Congress
On November 3, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that if the Democrats win control of Congress in the midterm elections, he may force them to reach a bipartisan agreement by exercising his presidential veto power. He pointed out that historically, it only takes a few months of vetoes for the Democrats to seek an agreement. Trump also mentioned that if the Democrats attempt to limit his powers, he might expand the use of executive power. This indicates that if the Democrats win a majority in both the House and Senate in this election, political confrontations between the White House and Congress could intensify. Additionally, Trump stated that he has been doing his best to support Republican candidates across the country in recent weeks, believing that his campaign efforts have helped the Republican Party reverse potential Democratic gains.
