Ukraine Begins Audit of Beef Control System for Export to Britain
On September 7, a 10-day inspection of the safety and traceability system for Ukrainian beef commenced. Successfully passing the audit will allow enterprises to start exporting cattle meat to the United Kingdom. British experts will evaluate the control system at all stages of production—from farming to slaughter and the documentation process for export. The audit will cover the planning of state control, the operation of territorial bodies, animal health monitoring, response to disease outbreaks, laboratory diagnostics, slaughter and processing procedures, product traceability, veterinary certificate issuance, and cargo control at the border. The Ukrainian side during the audit is represented by Deputy Chairman of the State Consumer Service Volodymyr Kusturov and specialists from the service. Kusturov noted that the entry of Ukrainian beef into the UK market will open new opportunities for producers. Previously, Georgia opened its market to Ukrainian meat and related agricultural products.
