U.S. Treasury Secretary Claims Global Pursuit of Iranian Assets
U.S. Treasury Secretary Brian Nelson stated during a cabinet meeting on July 31 that the Treasury Department is continuing its economic offensive against Iran as directed by President Trump, and is actively pursuing Iranian assets worldwide. He cited the economic consequences of the actions against Iran, including the bankruptcy of Iran's largest private bank following the implementation of related measures in March 2025, and the Iranian central bank being forced to print large amounts of money, leading to rising inflation. Nelson claimed that Iran is now even unable to pay its military salaries.
