Vehicle Registrations Fell 30.3% in July

In July, 43,758 new cars were registered, representing a 30.3% drop compared to the same month in 2025. The monthly decrease was 7.7%. The Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reported that the decline was more pronounced in light vehicles (-31.2%) than in heavy vehicles (-19.4%). Compared to June of this year, the trend reversed, with a drop of 7.8% in light vehicles and 10.6% in heavy vehicles. 69% of registrations corresponded to imported vehicles, while 31% were domestic. In the Top 5 brands, Toyota, Fiat, and Volkswagen remained, although the latter two lost market share. Ford took fourth place, displacing Renault. In terms of models, the Toyota Hilux and the Ford Territory showed the largest increases. BYD led the electric car segment with over 70% of the market, although it experienced a monthly decline. The provinces with the largest drops were Santa Cruz (-59.5%), Misiones (-43.7%), and Río Negro (-42.6%). In the cumulative total for the first seven months of 2026, registrations fell by 12.8%, reflecting a deterioration in the consumption of durable goods.
