What is Stronghold (SHX)? {#what-is-stronghold-shx}

Stronghold (SHX) is a payment token issued on the Stellar network. This asset was created on December 22, 2018, on Stellar, and there are separate SHX contracts on Ethereum and Solana. SHX is designed not to secure its own chain but to facilitate payments and settlements on payment rails.

Overview of Stronghold

|----------------------|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Metric | Details | | Token Name | Stronghold | | Ticker | SHX | | Base Blockchain | Stellar, asset creation date December 22, 2018 | | Other Deployment Locations | Two active Ethereum ERC-20 contracts, at least one valid mint on Solana, and a publicly announced deployment on XRP Ledger that could not be confirmed in the investigation | | Active Ethereum Contracts | 0x516d31...9787, 45-byte EIP-1167 proxy referencing implementation at 0x7f9f70da... | | Inactive Ethereum Contracts | 0xee7527...7084, 4,096 bytes, named "Stronghold SHx", 24-hour volume $2 | | Supply | Opinions vary. The two data feeds indicated SHX's price within a 0.124% difference at the close on September 5, 2026. However, there was a 3.17x difference in asset size. CoinGecko shows a market cap of $70,945,384 based on 18.38 billion tokens, while CoinPaprika shows $22,395,754 based on approximately 5.8 billion tokens. Furthermore, the Stellar network itself has issued 99,747,757,785 SHX.

Think of this as a shipping invoice. 99 billion boxes leave the port, the receiving side records 18 billion, and the insurance company records 6 billion. Everyone agrees on the price per box, but there is disagreement on the total number of boxes. Therefore, the least important number on the page becomes the price.

Before looking at the charts, you need to understand which SHX you are looking at. There are more candidates than you might expect.

What is Stronghold (SHX)? {#what-is-stronghold-shx-1}

Stronghold is a payment business, and SHX is the token associated with it. This asset exists natively on Stellar, which is a settlement network designed for value transfer between currencies, rather than for running general-purpose applications. This design explains many of the characteristics of SHX and many points where it does not.

On Stellar, assets are not held by default. Accounts must first open a trustline, which is explicit consent to hold a specific asset from a specific issuer. There are 91,533 trustlines for SHX. This is not the number of holders or users, but it is a realistic metric for the maximum number of Stellar accounts that have been allowed to interact with that asset.

The issuer has also set the auth_immutable flag. Simply put, the issuing account permanently relinquishes the authority to change authorization settings. It cannot later enable the authority to freeze or revert holders' balances. This is an important promise for a payment token and something that should be verified independently, not just taken from marketing materials.

Out of the 99,747,757,785 SHX purportedly issued on-chain, 64,137,911,804 tokens, or 64.3%, are within the Soroban contract. An additional 35.48 billion are held in traditional Stellar accounts. Even when combined, these two amounts fall slightly short of the total issuance, indicating that a very small quantity does not belong to either. If we model the float, this 64.3% is the most significant figure, one that is largely absent from most price pages.

Why is SHX attracting attention? {#why-is-shx-attracting-attention?}

The trading volume tells the story. SHX was at $278,269 seven sessions prior to the reference date, but by Saturday, September 5, 2026, it had surged to $1,002,898, marking a 360% increase. In this session, the token closed +9.32%, with a +14.29% increase over the seven-session period.

However, the increase shown by tokens in a rising market is not as significant as it appears. September 5 was a strong day for altcoins, with 19 out of 21 monitored assets rising, while Bitcoin barely moved at +0.21%. Although SHX outperformed BTC, many assets with tickers did as well.

More importantly, it’s about the ratio. Dividing the daily volume by the market cap yields 0.0141, indicating that SHX rotated about 1.4% of its apparent market cap in a single session. Tokens that generate volumes many times their market cap are usually in a state of repeated trading. In contrast, the 1.4% of tokens indicate a thin and slow order book. A thin order book can move significantly in either direction with minimal flow.

How does the SHX token function? {#how-does-the-shx-token-function?}

What follows is more of an audit than an explanation. SHX exists in at least four places, and the numbers reported by these sources do not align with each other.

|-----------------------------------|---------------------|-----------------------------| | Source | Reported Supply | Implications | | Issued amount on Stellar chain | 99,747,757,785 | Approximately $385.1 million as of the close on September 5, 2026 | | Circulating supply on CoinGecko | 18.38 billion | Market cap of $70,945,384 | | Estimated circulating supply on CoinPaprika | About 5.8 billion | Market cap of $22,395,754 | | TotalSupply of active Ethereum contract | 3.83 billion | Bridged representation, not the entire asset | | TotalSupply of inactive Ethereum contract | Exactly 100,000,000,000 | Only $2 in daily volume, halted deployment |

The difference between the two Ethereum contracts is a detail that careful readers might overlook. 0x516d31...9787 is a mere 45 bytes long. This is the minimum proxy of EIP-1167, lacking its own logic and following the standard pattern of forwarding all calls to the implementation contract 0x7f9f70da.... A 45-byte contract is more like an address for forwarding than a building. The symbol is SHX, the supply is 3.83 billion, and the actual market liquidity is $1.24 million, with a 24-hour volume of $127,511.

The other 0xee7527...7084 is 4,096 bytes long, named "Stronghold SHx", with an exact total supply of 100,000,000,000 and a daily volume of $2. This is an older deployment that is effectively halted now.

These two are connected by a $1,335,752 SHX/SHX migration pool, illustrating how swaps from the old contract to the new contract appear on DEX.

And there’s the most significant trap. The explorer link for CoinGecko points to the halted contract, while the machine-readable platform field refers to the active one. Clicking the button on the page leads to a deployment with $2 a day. However, fetching the same page via the API returns data handling $127,511. Even though the data sources are the same, the entry point determines the answer.

Comparison of Stronghold and Bitcoin {#comparison-of-stronghold-and-bitcoin}

This comparison does not indicate which is the better buy. It illustrates how much value a single correct answer can hold, with Bitcoin being the most straightforward example.

|---------------|-----------------------------------------------|---------------------------| | Category | Stronghold (SHX) | Bitcoin (BTC) | | Primary Identity | Payment token issued on other networks | Native asset of its own network | | Blockchain | On Stellar, with ERC-20 representation on Ethereum and minting on Solana | Only Bitcoin | | Core Value Drivers | Utilization for settlement and payment | Currency demand and network security | | Supply Model | Opinions vary. Public figures range from 5.8 billion to 9.975 billion | Public figure is singular, verifiable by anyone running a node | | Most Recent Complete Daily Close | $0.0038602752, Saturday, September 5, 2026 | $79,836.11, Saturday, September 5, 2026 | | Market Maturity | Thin order book with daily volume of $1,002,898 | Deep global market across major exchanges | | Risk Characteristics | Identity risk precedes price risk | Identity is established, leaving price risk | | Trading on Phemex | No pairs | Futures pairs available |

This table should be read as a checklist for verification, not as a conclusion. In Bitcoin, the first question is about price. However, with SHX, the first question should be, "Which asset is being priced?"

Factors Influencing SHX Price {#factors-influencing-shx-price}

Supply Alignment Between Feeds {#supply-alignment-between-feeds}

If either feed approaches the other, the publicly stated market cap can change by up to 3.17 times without a single trade. Screeners, ranking sites, and portfolio tracking tools all reference these feeds. Changes in numbers on a spreadsheet can move sentiment faster than flow.

Actual Settlement Volume on Stellar {#actual-settlement-volume-on-stellar}

Since SHX is positioned for settlement, the appropriate metric is trading activity, not speculation. The Stellar ledger is public and can be verified independently. This is an advantage that many tokens lack.

Decrease in Ethereum Migration Pool {#decrease-in-ethereum-migration-pool}

The $1,335,752 SHX/SHX pool exists to facilitate the transfer of holders from the old contract to the new contract. As the migration pool approaches emptiness, the float on the active contract will change, making variations more noticeable even at a base of 3.83 billion tokens.

Activity of the Soroban Contract {#soroban-contract-activity}

With 64.3% of the issuance within the contract, whether that balance is released or re-locked is more significant than daily price movements. For SHX, this is akin to a vesting release and is a key figure to monitor. The movement of supply from locked to circulating status is widely known to impact prices, and its mechanism is explained in the context of token inflation.

Broader Altcoin Market {#broader-altcoin-market}

SHX rose by 9.32% on a day when 19 of the 21 tracked assets increased. The correlation with broad altcoin demand is also a driver and is among the factors that can reverse quickly.

Risks When Trading Stronghold {#risks-when-trading-stronghold}

Three Supply Figures That Cannot All Be Correct {#three-supply-figures-that-cannot-all-be-correct}

This is not a rounding error. While the chain indicates a third supply figure, the two publicly reported market caps are based on different token counts. Without knowing which number to adopt, you cannot ascertain what you are buying at any price.

Groups of Impersonators Using the Same Ticker on Solana {#groups-of-impersonators-using-the-same-ticker-on-solana}

At least five different Solana addresses use the SHX ticker. They claim a total liquidity ranging from $374 million to $1.31 billion and a trading volume of $40 to $47. The most legitimate appears to be an address starting with EFchnNkBvh4gSY5zqDgq, which claims a liquidity of $101,819 and a volume of $4,283. For readers looking at volume, the impersonation is evident, but it may not be visible to those who do not. This follows the same failure pattern that allows for rug pulls.

Incorrect Explorer Links on the Correct Data Page {#incorrect-explorer-links-on-the-correct-data-page}

A reliable aggregation site showed a stopped contract as a clickable link. Placing your starting point in a trustworthy location and clicking a button that looks legitimate may lead you to a different asset.

Invalidating Minting and Freezing Rights Guarantees Nothing {#invalidating-minting-and-freezing-rights-guarantees-nothing}

On Solana, the expiration of minting and freezing rights may be treated as a sign of safety. However, it is not an identifier. If it is a fake mint, any impersonator can invalidate both in a single transaction. Those flags only eliminate specific attacks and do not indicate who issued them or what the ticker refers to.

Thin Order Books Are Disadvantageous Both Ways {#thin-order-books-are-disadvantageous-both-ways}

With a turnover rate of 1.4% relative to market cap, a position of a certain size will work against the price both when entering and exiting. Understanding how the liquidity pool determines that cost will differentiate between planned and incidental entries.

No Phemex Pair and No Listing Guarantee {#no-phemex-pair-and-no-listing-guarantee}

SHX is not traded on Phemex, either in spot or futures. Where it is actually traded, it is mixed between decentralized pools and small centralized exchanges, with the deepest pool found in the investigation having only $1.24 million. This is the overall cushion.

How to Safely Investigate Stronghold {#how-to-safely-investigate-stronghold}

This is the part that should be left intact. The following steps can all be verified in a browser, and the order is important.

Sort by volume and number of holders, not liquidity. Sorting a token screener by liquidity is like evaluating a restaurant based on how many chairs it has rather than how many people are eating. The groups of impersonators on Solana claim over $1 billion in liquidity while only moving $40 a day. Volume reflects the actual amount of funds that have moved. Liquidity is the amount the pool claims to hold, and that claim is cheap.

Consider that invalidating minting and freezing rights is a necessary but not sufficient condition. Proceed with caution. This is because they only eliminate specific attacks and do not indicate who issued the tokens you hold.

Read machine-readable fields, not clickable buttons. On SHX, these two diverged on major aggregation sites. If the API fields and links on the same page point to different contracts, the API fields are usually better maintained, and the links may be outdated. Cross-reference both with the chain.

Compare two feeds before trusting the numbers and understand the offsets. CoinGecko’s date-stamped historical endpoint returns the previous day’s closing price, so a simple comparison with other feeds can create a false spread. Either adjust both or do not adjust either. For SHX, the adjusted price difference is 0.124%, and the price is deemed generally reasonable, leading the investigation to supply figures.

Check not only the asset code but also the issuing account. In Stellar, assets are defined by a combination of code and issuing account. Even if two assets both claim to be SHX, they can be entirely unrelated. The issuing account is the identity.

Check the age and depth of the pool together. A recently created pool that appears to have large liquidity but very little volume is a typical signature of impersonation. Any pool where liquidity numbers do not move with any transaction found on the chart is similar.

Always expand shortened addresses. The addresses in this article are shortened for readability, but shortened addresses are what impersonators exploit. It is easy to create two contracts with the same prefix and suffix. Always paste the full address to verify it.

Is Stronghold a Good Investment? {#is-stronghold-a-good-investment}

Here, I will not make predictions, nor do I intend to in the future. What the data indicates is narrower and more practical than price targets.

SHX is a real asset with actual storage pathways. Created on December 22, 2018, on Stellar, the issuer has fixed the authorization flag, holds 91,533 trustlines, and the active Ethereum pool shows a daily volume of $127,511 against a liquidity of $1.24 million. These are not traces of fakes.

On the other hand, SHX has identity issues that the market has yet to resolve. The two feeds show market caps that are 3.17 times apart, and nearly two-thirds of the issuance on-chain is locked in the contract. The main data page links to a stopped deployment, and five Solana addresses use the same ticker. All of these are discount factors and are unrelated to the payment business that the token provides.

Therefore, the real issue is not the upside potential. It is how much identity risk you are taking before you take price risk. If you cannot say which of the three supply figures to trust, you cannot size that position. And a position that cannot be sized is not an investment.

Frequently Asked Questions {#frequently-asked-questions}

Is SHX available on Phemex?

No. There are no spot or futures pairs for SHX on Phemex. Exposure with leverage must be taken from assets that are actually listed, with over 100 futures contracts available for major and mid-cap assets.

How many SHX are there?

On the Stellar network, 99,747,757,785 SHX are reported as issued. CoinGecko calculates market cap using a circulating supply of 18.38 billion, while CoinPaprika uses about 5.8 billion. This discrepancy likely stems from differences in what each feed considers circulating supply, with the 64.3% of issuance within the Soroban contract being a major reason for the large exclusion.

Is Stronghold Operating on the XRP Ledger?

Stronghold announced the XRPL as its fourth network on July 21, 2026, but the issuer address has not been made public. Since the deployment destination could not be confirmed from primary sources, it should be treated as an announcement rather than a fact. To understand what issuance on the XRPL means, it is advisable to check with XRP and the XRP Ledger.

Which Ethereum Contract is Genuine?

The one operating is 0x516d31...9787. This is a 45-byte EIP-1167 proxy to 0x7f9f70da..., with liquidity of $1.24 million and a 24-hour trading volume of $127,511. The 4,096-byte contract at 0xee7527...7084 had a trading volume of $2 on the same day. Before sending anything, please expand and verify both addresses in full.

Does SHX Function Like a Stablecoin?

No. SHX is volatile, with a closing price of $0.0038602752 on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Stellar also has fiat-backed tokens issued by anchors, and if you want to know how that works, please refer to the explanation of stablecoins. Tokens in payment networks and stablecoins for payments are different financial products, each with different risks. The announcement of Open USD clearly illustrated this difference.

Finally {#finally}

SHX is the clearest example of a token that should have its identity verified before its price. While the feed matches prices up to 0.124%, there is a 3.17 times discrepancy in asset size, which cannot be resolved by looking at charts alone. Five deployments across Stellar, Ethereum, and Solana use the same ticker, and there are announcements from the unverified XRPL network, leading many to reference aggregation sites that link to inactive contracts.

Practical implications suggest habits rather than transactions. Sort by trading volume and number of holders, expand all addresses, adjust for offsets, and treat invalidated mint and freeze permissions as "verified" checkboxes. If you execute this with SHX, you should find the active pool in about 4 minutes. If omitted, you will end up at a Solana address claiming $1 billion in liquidity while only moving $40.

Tokens with three supply amounts do not mean they are uninvestigatable. It means you must investigate before looking at the chart. ++Trade cryptocurrency futures on Phemex++
