On Monday pre-market, SK Hynix's American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) continued to rise, extending the rebound trend of the storage chip sector. Market sentiment is supported by demand for AI infrastructure on one hand, while also digesting the company's latest disclosures regarding customer and regional revenue structures.
Pre-Market Surges Above $172
Latest market data shows that SK Hynix's ADRs listed on Nasdaq closed at $166.33 last Friday, up 0.4% on that day. By Monday pre-market, the stock price further rose to approximately $172.48, an increase of about 3.7%.
This surge is not an isolated event for the stock. Micron's stock rose about 3% before Monday's opening, while SanDisk, Seagate, and Western Digital also saw gains, indicating that funds are flowing back into the storage chip sector.
Reports also mentioned that U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo is reportedly discouraging Apple from sourcing storage chips from Chinese suppliers, which has also boosted sentiment in the related sector.
NVIDIA Demand Drives Revenue Structure
SK Hynix's semi-annual report submitted on August 14 shows that in the first half of 2026, revenue from a single external customer amounted to 17.61 trillion won, accounting for 13.35% of total sales. This customer is widely believed to be NVIDIA, which is one of SK Hynix's most important clients and a major buyer of its high-bandwidth memory products.
Regionally, revenue from the U.S. market reached 84.56 trillion won, accounting for 64.1% of the company's revenue in the first half of the year. This proportion reflects that U.S. AI and data center spending has become a significant support for SK Hynix's performance.
Board Approves Long-Term Expansion Investment
The company is also preparing for future demand expansion. The board recently approved an additional semiconductor investment of 54.3 trillion won (approximately $38 billion) by 2031 to expand DRAM, high-bandwidth memory, and NAND capacity.
The related investments will be directed towards production facilities in Yongin and Cheongju, South Korea. For the market, this means the company is continuing to enhance its advanced storage layout around AI servers and high-performance computing demands.
SK Hynix's stock price previously fell to a low of $124.80 after its July earnings report, but has since rebounded significantly, although it remains below the high of $194.80 after its Nasdaq listing. As the stock price approaches $173 before Monday's opening, the market will continue to observe whether the sentiment in the storage chip sector can be sustained and whether U.S. AI infrastructure spending will continue to support the company's valuation recovery.
