Bitcoin developer proposes 'Quantum Landmines' to prevent quantum theft

Cory Fields, a Bitcoin Core developer, has proposed a technique called 'Quantum Landmines' to prevent Bitcoin theft using quantum computers. Under this proposal, a hacker attempting to use a quantum computer to steal Bitcoin by uncovering a vulnerable wallet’s private key would need to post Bitcoin collateral equal to the amount targeted for theft. This collateral would be locked for approximately 30 days. If the original owner submits pre-arranged proof of ownership during this period, they could recover both the Bitcoin and the collateral posted by the hacker. The hacker would not know in advance which wallets have this mechanism enabled.
