Yuridia Trujillo, a tax preparer in Connecticut, has been charged with falsely reporting cryptocurrency losses for clients who never held the related assets. The IRS stated that her business, Yuri's LLC, submitted at least 4,335 tax returns from 2017 to 2024, allegedly inflating retirement contributions, dependent care, business, and rental property information. A federal grand jury indicted her on October 7, and she was arrested by law enforcement on October 9; she faces 19 counts related to false income tax filings and is currently released on a $50,000 bail pending trial.
