CZ: One day Peter Schiff will be right about Bitcoin... but one caveat!
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance, mocked Peter Schiff, a staunch gold supporter, on Monday. The incident began when a viral video compiled years of Schiff's predictions about the collapse and demise of Bitcoin. In response to this video, CZ wrote:
One day he will be right... of course, after he changes his mind.
This combined video is nearly three minutes long. However, the final seconds mark the climax and humorous part of the story, where Schiff admits he cannot explain what has kept Bitcoin (BTC) afloat.
How 13 years of insults towards Bitcoin ended with a shrug
One Bitcoin activist and commentator shared this compiled video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). According to this post, the clips in the video relate to Schiff's appearances on television shows and podcasts over the past 13 years.
Throughout this video, Schiff repeatedly refers to Bitcoin as "the tulip mania version 2," a "pure Ponzi," and "digital fool's gold." He also repeatedly predicts that the price of Bitcoin will drop to zero.
When we plot these predictions against the Bitcoin price chart, it becomes clear that his statements have continued from a price of around $355 in 2013 to over $111,000 in 2025.
In other parts of this video, he ties Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to something he calls one of the biggest crashes in Bitcoin's history. In another clip, he states that if the company Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) ever sells its coins, Bitcoin will crash.

However, the last clip in this video turns Peter Schiff's entire hypothesis about Bitcoin upside down. In that clip, Schiff mentions that this asset is trading at around $81,800 "as we speak."
He says:
I don’t know what has kept Bitcoin up
and adds that its price should be much lower than this.
Peter Schiff's animosity towards Bitcoin has outlasted all his failed predictions
At the time of writing this news, the current price of Bitcoin is hovering around $82,500. In other words, Bitcoin is exactly at the level that has left Schiff so confused and astonished.
Meanwhile, CZ stands on the opposite side of this debate over hard money. He stated in September that Bitcoin could surpass gold in market value in the next cycle.
On the other hand, Schiff has not changed his course. Last week, he referred to the drop in gold prices following the release of hot inflation data as a "gift." He also claims that most stocks are already in a bear market.
Nevertheless, the confrontation between Peter Schiff and Bitcoin reflects a deeper divide among investors in scarce assets: gold supporters trust the "metal," while Bitcoin holders trust the "code." After 13 years of predicting a collapse, neither camp shows any signs of changing their stance.
