David Schwartz Explains Exchange Hesitation for Bitcoin BLAKE2b
Prefer us on GoogleRipple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz discussed the reasons why major platforms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Trezor are hesitant to list Bitcoin BLAKE2b. Bitcoin BLAKE2b is a separate chain created by diverging from Bitcoin, utilizing the BLAKE2b mining algorithm instead of SHA 256. Schwartz noted that exchanges might prefer to implement additional security measures against vulnerabilities in newly separated assets. He expressed that they might have turned to methods like replay protection, especially when working with new split networks. This aims to prevent a transaction made on one chain from being inadvertently validated on another chain. Bitcoin BLAKE2b is being met with more caution than previous Bitcoin forks; this is due to exchanges and wallet providers behaving more cautiously. Schwartz emphasized that a newly separated chain could pose transaction security issues without adequate protective measures, potentially leading to users facing fund losses.
