Goldman Sachs Group has prohibited most employees from using advanced AI programming tools, restricting access to the engineering group, a move that has sparked dissatisfaction among some employees. Previously, Goldman allowed employees to use Claude Code from Anthropic and GitHub from Microsoft. According to updated internal guidelines from October, the bank has tightened the use of these tools. Some traders are unhappy, as they had utilized these tools to expedite client trade flow monitoring, market changes, and position modeling. Goldman had previously restricted its Hong Kong employees from using Claude. The latest directive does not apply to those engaged in trading, quantitative research, and software engineering cross-disciplinary fields.
