Hassett: The U.S. Does Not Wish to Escape Debt Through Inflation, Interest Payment Levels Are Unacceptable
The Director of the White House National Economic Council, Hassett, stated that the United States does not want to escape debt through inflation, and the current level of interest payments is unacceptable. He pointed out that Walsh needs to deal with the situation left by Powell, which is quite unusual. Hassett emphasized that the President is very serious about reducing the deficit and noted that the rise in U.S. bond yields is due to a strong economy. He expressed respect for the independence of the Federal Reserve and pointed out that U.S. consumption is very strong, expecting strong performance in holiday season spending, stating that there is a lot of good news this week.
