NYSE Tests Avalanche for Tokenizing Securities
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has been testing Avalanche technology for integration into its infrastructure over the past year. Ava Labs President Charlie Cooper announced this during the Avalanche Summit in New York. NYSE is evaluating the economic model of the solution, but the final choice of blockchain has not yet been announced. Cooper noted that NYSE has been examining not only the technical capabilities of Avalanche but also the business needs of the exchange. Michael Blagrund from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) confirmed active engagement with the Avalanche team, stating that the platform meets many of ICE's requirements. In January, NYSE announced the development of a platform for trading tokenized stocks and ETFs, which requires regulatory approval. In August, ICE entered into an agreement with tZERO to utilize its infrastructure. Cooper expects that within a year, some trading venues may transition to 24/7 trading, but he does not predict whether this will apply to the largest exchanges. Avalanche is also expanding its presence in the tokenization of real assets, particularly in the ticketing system for FIFA World Cup 2026.
