US and Israel Discuss Land Blockade Against Iran

By: rootdata|2026/07/31 09:46:23

The United States and Israel are discussing the possibility of implementing a land blockade against Iran, aimed at increasing economic pressure on the country. The plan may require the US and Israel to pressure Iran's neighboring countries to restrict the flow of imports and exports to and from Iran. Retired Lieutenant General Sean MacFarland stated that although a land blockade is "almost impossible to achieve," "if you deprive Iran of the ability to trade, then you are economically isolating it." Iran shares borders with Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and implementing a land blockade would require persuading these countries to cooperate, many of which are not allies of the US and Israel. Key border crossings that could be targeted include Incheh Borun and Salakh, which connect Iran and Turkmenistan.
