U.S. Department of Justice Launches Super Intelligence Task Force
The U.S. Department of Justice has established a "Super Intelligence Task Force" to respond to threats from foreign entities and criminal organizations that misuse artificial intelligence (AI). This task force's primary missions include protecting national security and critical infrastructure, as well as investigating illegal activities utilizing AI technology. The new dedicated team will monitor the misuse of AI technology by individuals and companies involved in illegal activities, including those supported by foreign governments and transnational criminal organizations. Attorney General Todd Blanch stated that the core SI technology will be leveraged to benefit the American public. The Department of Justice plans to check whether companies using AI maintain internal control systems to ensure that the technology operates as intended. The Trump administration directed that AI be referred to as "Super Intelligence (SI)," and this policy is reflected in the new organizational name of the Department of Justice. The promotion of digital asset policies is slowing down, and responsibilities related to digital assets have been excluded from the overall AI management role. This task force will respond to AI-related illegal activities through the Department of Justice's investigative and prosecutorial functions, separate from the existing SI force.
