Selon des informations du média hongkongais Hong Kong 01, le tribunal de première instance de l'Est de Hong Kong a jugé que la "célébrité de l'internet" financière Royston Chow Pak-Hin avait créé et géré illégalement un groupe de discussion par abonnement via une application sociale pour fournir des conseils en investissement sans licence, et a été condamné à six semaines d'emprisonnement.
Il s'agirait du premier cas à Hong Kong où une personne aurait été condamnée à une peine d'emprisonnement pour avoir fourni des conseils en matière d'investissement sans permis. La Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission a déclaré que Royston Chow Pak-Hin a gagné un total de 43 680 dollars hongkongais en facturant des frais aux membres du groupe de discussion. La Commission continuera de réprimer les activités illégales des « célébrités de l'internet » financier et de les tenir responsables.
