Eurozone inflation rose 0.4% in August

The consumer price index (CPI) for the eurozone recorded a monthly increase of 0.4% in August, confirming market estimates. Year-on-year, prices increased by 3.2% compared to the same month last year, slightly below analysts' estimate of 3.3%. Core inflation, which excludes energy and food, saw a rise of 0.2% from the previous month. Romania recorded the highest year-on-year inflation rate in August at 6.3%, followed by Lithuania (5.6%) and Cyprus (5.2%). In contrast, Italy and Slovakia were at the community average of 3.2%, while Sweden recorded the lowest level in the region at 0.3%.
