New Officials in Florida and Texas Support Bitcoin Reserves, Breaking Down Party Barriers
Newly elected officials in Florida and Texas are supporting Bitcoin reserves. Florida's new governor, Byron Donalds, a Republican, has proposed H.R. 2112, aimed at providing legal authority for establishing a federal strategic Bitcoin reserve, and has indicated that Florida already has related proposals. Texas's new senator, James Talarico, a Democrat, is the first Democrat to win a statewide election since 1994, and during his time as a state representative, he supported the establishment of Texas's strategic Bitcoin reserve through SB21. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has already signed related legislation in 2025. These changes indicate that the rationale for holding Bitcoin transcends party lines.
