OmniOps and HPE Sign MoU at LEAP to Support Development of Sovereign AI Solutions in the Kingdom
Press Release:
OmniOps, the Saudi company specializing in sovereign AI infrastructure technology, announced during the LEAP conference the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HPE to develop its sovereign AI ecosystem. This ecosystem will combine the infrastructure manufactured by HPE in Saudi Arabia with AI platforms developed in the Kingdom by OmniOps, along with its capabilities to operate these solutions within the Kingdom. This partnership aligns with HPE's initiative "Made, Developed, and Implemented in Saudi Arabia" and aims to assist government entities and institutions in accelerating the adoption of AI solutions while enhancing digital sovereignty and developing local technical capabilities.
By combining the infrastructure provided by OmniOps for developing and operating technical solutions with its capabilities in managing enterprise-level AI solutions, this partnership contributes to building an integrated ecosystem that extends from servers and infrastructure to AI management, ensuring that its components are developed and operated within the Kingdom and within its regulatory framework.
As hosting data and operating AI models locally become fundamental pillars of sovereignty over AI, institutions are increasingly moving towards a comprehensive review of their technical infrastructure. By integrating locally manufactured computing capabilities with AI software managed and operated within the Kingdom, OmniOps expands the concept of sovereignty to include various components of the ecosystem, from hardware and infrastructure to AI management within institutions.
Through this partnership, HPE and OmniOps intend to combine locally manufactured infrastructure with AI platforms developed in Saudi Arabia and specialized expertise in operating solutions within the Kingdom, helping institutions transition from the experimentation phase of AI technologies to actual production. In line with the "Made, Developed, and Implemented in Saudi Arabia" initiative, the two companies aim to develop sovereign AI solutions that can be tested, adopted, operated, and supported within the Kingdom, while also creating new opportunities for marketing technological innovations developed in Saudi Arabia and transforming them into commercial solutions.
Mohammed Al-Tasan, founder and CEO of OmniOps, stated: "Achieving sovereignty across the technical ecosystem requires consideration of all its components. Today, the entities we work with in government, aviation, and financial services need higher levels of control and transparency. Operating our software on locally manufactured servers enables us to meet three essential requirements for our clients: knowing where the data is hosted, the entities developing the platform on which their solutions operate, and the source of the infrastructure that the ecosystem relies on as a whole. This is the concept of an integrated sovereign ecosystem, which the National Data and Artificial Intelligence Strategy aims to enable."
Mohammed Al-Ruhaili, Vice President and General Manager for the Middle East at HPE, said: "This partnership with OmniOps embodies the vision of 'Made, Developed, and Implemented in Saudi Arabia' in practice, providing institutions in the Kingdom with a solid foundation to adopt sovereign AI solutions on a large scale. Through this partnership, we will work to accelerate the adoption of AI and support the continuous growth of the technology ecosystem in the Kingdom."
OmniOps' solutions are based on the "Bonyan" platform, specialized in AI inference services that allow institutions to run and manage AI applications across cloud environments, on-premises environments, and air-gapped environments, according to their security, regulatory, and operational requirements. "Bonyan" also provides access to a range of large language models (LLMs) hosted within the Kingdom, along with the infrastructure and tools necessary to securely operate generative AI solutions at the enterprise level. Thanks to its flexible design that is not tied to a specific hardware vendor, the platform allows OmniOps to integrate local computing capabilities while maintaining clients' freedom to choose among various infrastructure providers.
