The Zcash development team plans to introduce a quantum-resistant signature opcode in January 2027, supporting hash-based signature verification for transactions to reduce the threat of quantum computing to wallet key security. The exact activation time has yet to be determined. Zakura engineer Roman Akhtariev stated that this mechanism will be primarily applied to the Zcash transparent transaction system. As of Thursday, approximately 11.96 million ZEC are stored in the transparent address pool, accounting for about 70% of the 16.98 million ZEC issued. Additionally, Zakura has launched a wallet balance query tool based on Private Information Retrieval (PIR), with an experimental version available through the "Private queries" setting in the Zcash wallet Vizor.
