What Is CHIP? USD.AI Governance, Tokenomics and the Ticker Collision
CHIP is the governance token of USD.AI, a DeFi-infrastructure project built around GPU-backed lending. One point must be explicit: the WEEX CHIP is USD.AI's governance token, not every unrelated meme or project asset that uses the same ticker. USD.AI announced the foundation and CHIP on 27 January 2026 and published "$CHIP Is Live" on 22 April 2026; the exact TGE timestamp was not established in the material reviewed. On 16 September 2026, both the CHIP/USDT perpetual contract and spot page were live on WEEX. This article does not predict a price; it explains the product, tokenomics, market data and risks that can be checked.
What is CHIP (the short version)?
- Identity: CHIP is the governance token of USD.AI.
- Networks and contracts: Arbitrum (hub), Ethereum and Base OFT deployments, and a Solana NTT deployment. The EVM contract is 0x0C1c1C109FE34733fca54b82d7B46B75CFb71F6e; the Solana address is chipCAT7vi5CZtbZsn9z7iMPXvFwyAnKz3QFu8XVuHm.
- Utility: voting on eligible collateral, risk parameters, fees and the direction of the GPU-backed lending protocol.
- Staking: staking CHIP produces sCHIP; the official docs describe a cooldown and a backstop role for protocol shortfalls.
- Ticker collision: unrelated tokens also use CHIP. The identity covered here is USD.AI and the official contracts above.
This summary uses USD.AI's official governance, contract and tokenomics documents, reviewed on 16 September 2026, plus a CoinCarp cross-check. The WEEX page metadata did not expose a contract, so verify the project and contract independently before transferring anything.
What CHIP does inside USD.AI
USD.AI describes a protocol for lending against GPU hardware, with CHIP serving a governance role. Holders can vote on protocol changes, eligible collateral and risk parameters. The official governance documentation lists parameters including LTV, interest rates, depreciation, borrower criteria, geographic restrictions, upgrades, oracles, integrations and fees.
Staking is another part of the design. The official docs say that staking CHIP creates sCHIP and includes a cooldown. Staked CHIP can act as a backstop for protocol shortfalls and carries slashing exposure under capped parameters. This is the published mechanism, not a report that a slashing event has occurred.
USD.AI's legal disclaimer also says that CHIP does not represent equity, ownership or a claim on revenue. Governance utility should therefore not be treated as company ownership or an entitlement to protocol income. When assessing the product, separate capabilities described in documentation from actual market use; this article adds no independent claim about lending performance or protocol safety.
CHIP tokenomics: an unreconciled allocation table
The supply figures below come from CoinCarp and the allocation figures from official and secondary sources, each with its date. CoinCarp displayed total and maximum supply of 10 billion CHIP and circulating supply of 2 billion CHIP on 16 September 2026. USD.AI's current official tokenomics page, reviewed on that date, states 27.5% for ecosystem bootstrapping and 19.8% for the reserve. Bitget's 22 April 2026 secondary summary instead reports a 19.5% reserve. The difference must be shown plainly rather than averaged away.
| Item | Figure and dated source |
|---|---|
| Total / maximum supply | 10 billion CHIP; CoinCarp, 16 September 2026 |
| Circulating supply | 2 billion CHIP; CoinCarp, 16 September 2026 |
| Ecosystem bootstrapping | 27.5%; USD.AI official tokenomics page, reviewed 16 September 2026 |
| Reserve, official figure | 19.8%; USD.AI official tokenomics page, reviewed 16 September 2026 |
| Reserve, secondary figure | 19.5%; Bitget summary, published 22 April 2026 |
| Remaining schedule described officially | 0% before month 12, 33% at month 12, and the remaining 67% monthly over the next 24 months; USD.AI official tokenomics page, reviewed 16 September 2026 |
This is not a final reconciled table. The official 19.8% reserve figure conflicts with the secondary 19.5% figure, and the official material reviewed does not present every remaining allocation as one complete percentage table. Do not add these rows together or present the full allocation as settled. The usable vesting statement is the published 0%, 33% and 67% schedule; the exact TGE date remains unspecified in the material reviewed.
-- Price
Listing and where CHIP trades
On WEEX, start with the CHIP/USDT perpetual futures market: the WEEX contract-tickers API check on 16 September 2026 recorded it as live and reported a last price of $0.03654. The CHIP/USDT spot market page also returned market metadata on that date. Leveraged futures amplify losses as well as gains; for a newcomer, spot or low leverage is a more cautious starting point. A candidate WEEX listing route carrying a 16 April 2026 snippet returned 404 in the final check, so no exact WEEX listing date is asserted.
The USD.AI sources and Bitget's article provide token and launch context, but they do not provide a sufficiently clear, dated listing opening for other exchanges in the material reviewed. This page therefore assigns no exact outside-exchange date. Always match any CHIP market to USD.AI's official contract list because the ticker is collision-prone.
What the CHIP price has done so far (attributed)
- WEEX futures price: $0.03654 on 16 September 2026, according to the WEEX contract-tickers API.
- Market price: about $0.0366 on 16 September 2026, according to CoinCarp.
- Market capitalisation and fully diluted valuation: about $73.228 million and $366.14 million respectively on 16 September 2026, according to CoinCarp.
- 24-hour volume: about $21.258 million on 16 September 2026, according to CoinCarp.
These are dated market-data snapshots attributed to CoinCarp or WEEX, not a valuation from this article and not a forecast. A small price difference between feeds can reflect capture time or methodology. The foundation announcement on 27 January 2026 and the "$CHIP Is Live" post on 22 April 2026 are publication events; neither supplies the missing exact TGE timestamp.
The CHIP outlook: what to watch
Nobody knows the CHIP price and this article does not forecast one. To understand changes in supply and demand, monitor the following through official documentation and market data:
- Governance votes: changes to LTV, interest rates, eligible collateral, oracles, fees or borrower criteria connect directly to CHIP's stated role.
- Staking and the backstop: watch how the cooldown, slashing caps and real use of sCHIP are documented and implemented.
- Allocation and unlock disclosures: track the month-12 milestone and the next 24 months, and recheck the 19.8% versus 19.5% discrepancy against the source version.
- GPU-backed lending activity: observable protocol use matters more than a broad product description; separate independent data from marketing claims.
- Contract identity: match every CHIP market to USD.AI's official contract list rather than relying on the ticker alone.
Risks to know before trading
- CHIP is a crowded ticker and WEEX metadata did not expose the contract; confusing projects can attach the wrong data or address to a trade.
- Official documentation describes staked CHIP as a backstop for protocol shortfalls, with capped-parameter slashing exposure. That is a design risk.
- The reserve allocation is 19.8% in the official source and 19.5% in the secondary report. Until the project publishes a reconciled table, the full allocation should not be treated as final.
- The month-12 and following 24-month schedule can change circulating supply without determining a price outcome.
- A live spot page or futures contract does not guarantee liquidity, execution without slippage or continued market availability, and leverage can produce severe losses.
Frequently asked questions
Which project owns the CHIP covered here?
This article covers USD.AI's governance token, used in a project describing GPU-backed lending infrastructure. CHIP is also used by unrelated assets, so check the project name and official contract together.
Which networks support USD.AI CHIP?
USD.AI's official list names Arbitrum, Ethereum and Base for the EVM deployments, and Solana for the NTT deployment. It gives the EVM contract as 0x0C1c1C109FE34733fca54b82d7B46B75CFb71F6e and the Solana address as chipCAT7vi5CZtbZsn9z7iMPXvFwyAnKz3QFu8XVuHm. Match the network to the receiving exchange.
Where does CHIP trade on WEEX?
In the 16 September 2026 checks, both the CHIP/USDT futures contract and CHIP/USDT spot market were active. Because WEEX metadata did not expose a contract, the USD.AI contract cross-check is essential.
Does this page predict the CHIP price?
No. It reports only the dated WEEX and CoinCarp snapshots above. It does not provide a target price or a personal valuation.
